Welcome to the Arts Based Community!

Welcome to the Arts Based Community (ABC) at LMU Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Art Therapy graduate program. The ABC is overseen by the arts based community director and the mission is to provide arts based experiences for students and alumni to increase artist identity and arts based therapeutic practices, by implementing, integrating, and promoting the arts as a therapeutic model and healing practice within teaching and clinical training. The ABC director works collaboratively with the Department Chair, Program Director, Clinic Director, and Research Institute Director. The ABC fosters collaborative opportunities and programming with other CFA and LMU affiliates, departments, and partners. As part of the ABC we provide continuing education workshops for students, alumni and our clinical community. The ABC supports yearly student art shows, bi yearly alumni art shows, community art shows and numerous arts based events.
